Janna P. Visconti is the managing partner of the Sarisohn Law Partners' Elder Law and Medicaid Department. Outside the firm, Jan serves on the Board of Directors and is Co-Chairman of Strategic Planning for RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), an organization dedicated to placing retired people in volunteer positions in which they can contribute their valued skills to our community. Additionally, Jan is a member of the Executive Board of the Senior Umbrella Network of Suffolk (SUNS) in which she serves on both the Scholarship and Speakers and Program Committees. In 2008, Jan accepted a position on the Public issues Committee of the Long Island Council of Churches.
Throughout Long Island, Jan can be frequently seen speaking on topics such as Elder Law, Medicaid, Reverse Mortgages and Asset Protection for Seniors. She has repeatedly been asked to share her expertise by institutions of higher learning such as St. John's University School of Law and St. Joseph's College. She gives presentations at levels ranging from undergraduate seminars to advanced lectures designed for attorneys currently practicing in the Elder Law field.
Jan is fiercely dedicated to the protection of the rights, financial resources and quality of life for senior citizens and their families. The goals, fears, interests and desires of each client are thoroughly explored during Jan's creation of a specifically tailored plan designed for the client's individual needs. To navigate the complex and vitally important field of Elder Law, clients need an attorney with patience, empathy, devotion and comprehensive knowledge; Jan exemplifies these traits.
Jan is a graduate of St. John's University School of Law and a former member of its' Law Review. To better serve her clients, Jan has earned a certificate of Geriatric Ministry from Stony Brook University and has been trained as a Guardian by the Suffolk County Bar Association. She is married to The Rev. Dr. Richard D. Visconti, rector of the Caroline Church in Setauket.
